This is an illustration that I made to submit into a gallery for a June 17th festival thrown in my hometown of Lubbock, Texas. This was happening at the time where many were out protesting for the justice of both George Floyd and Brianna Taylor, and the issues of police brutality were at the forefront of everyone’s attention. My illustration is based on Alexander Rodchenko’s ‘Books (Please)! In All Branches of Knowledge’, I took his iconic design and molded it to fit a call of action that I felt resonated with current events and also myself. As designers, I feel that we are always communicating the messages of others, but sometimes it is important to stop and communicate messages of our own.
